Meet Melanie Vesey of Promotional Rescue in Pasadena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanie Vesey.

Melanie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I got my start in PR working at a boutique record label here in LA and was moved up to Vice President of PR. When that jon ended I thought I would get another PR job, but I had so many friends that needed my PR services, however, couldn’t afford the big ticket price of traditional PR. So, I started teaching people how to do their own PR and social media and from that, Promotional Rescue was born!

As a creative person myself (Comedian, Actress, Filmmaker) I KNOW how hard it can be to have a clear perspective on self-promotion. I’m so passionate about people feeling GOOD, NOT GROSS about their self-promotion so they keep sharing themselves and their awesome projects with the world.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I first started my company it was called: Melanie Vesey Studio, but no one knew what I did and I found myself having to explain it over and over!! When I rebranded to Promotional Rescue, things really took off. When I tell people my company is called: “Promotional Rescue” they inevitably say “I NEED THAT!!” Which is why I REALLY stress with my clients how important good branding and messaging is. It’s the difference between landing that perfect client or losing them.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Promotional Rescue – what should we know?
I work with Indie Artists and Creative Small Business Owners 1-on-1 to help them: 1.) Get clear about their Brand/Image 2.) How to use social media effectively to grow an engaged audience 3.) How to do outreach to Larger Opportunities like a press, representation and bigger/better gigs.

What sets Promotional Rescue apart from everyone else teaching branding and social media is I walk the walk. I’m a stand-up comedian, actress, and filmmaker who is constantly promoting my projects and shows with success. I just filmed my 1st comedy special #WildAnimal and it sold out in just 2 days. I know what works and what doesn’t because I do it myself.

What I’m most proud of Promotional Rescue is the response my clients get from the work we do together. I once had an artist client get a $3500 consignment DURING A REBRANDING SESSION in direct response to a post we made! Seriously. It was incredible.

I can’t guarantee that quick of a response to every client, but every single one of my clients gets a boost in one way or another.

Just today, I got this testimonial – “Melanie’s guidance on my website and online presence gave me the confidence to send my materials to agents and I’m proud to say I’ve signed with my dream agent 7 months after moving to LA.” – director, writer, actress

I love my job!!!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I’m compassionate. Putting yourself or your project “out there” can be VERY scary for some people. I’ve spent many a session with a client that is crying, either from fear of being vulnerable on a public level or from joy because their fear was replaced with a new found confidence. There are entire books written about how people stop themselves from success and things to do to combat that. I’m on the front lines of this problem holding peoples hands through the process of sharing on a public level.
