Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Mehryar Taban.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in Los Angeles. I was always fascinated by science, eyes and surgery. So my path took me from UCLA university to medical school, then ophthalmology residency at Cleveland Clinic, and then back to UCLA for oculoplastics (eye plastic surgery) fellowship. I then opened up a private practice office in Beverly Hills. I have had the opportunity to expand the field of oculoplastics with new techniques and numerous publications and treat thousands of patients who traveled from near and far to see me for my expertise.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road but something that I have not deviated from.
Training took a long time including four years college, four years medical school, four years of internship/residency, and two years of fellowship.
Starting solo practice in the ultra-competitive market of Beverly Hills with hundreds of plastic surgeons wasn’t easy either and it took several years to build up my reputation of being one of the best in the field.
We’d love to hear more about your practice.
I specialize in the field of oculoplastics which deals with both reconstructive and aesthetic eye plastic surgery.
I have the opportunity to publish numerous (50+) scientific publications and come up with new techniques to advance this specialty. Due to my skills and expertise, I have had the pleasure of treating thousands of patients who have traveled from near and far to see me including patients from around 40 other countries.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I came to the United States as a child immigrant and I firmly believe that I have to put in the time and effort to get where I am today.
