Meet Maz Ghodsian of Proctology Institute in Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maz Ghodsian.

Maz, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I became a Proctologist (yes, I get asked this question frequently) because I realized that there were very few residency trained Proctologists in California and so many people needed help. I became the second residency trained Proctologist in California. I opened the doors to my office in 2008 and the Proctology Institute http://www.proctologyinstitute.com began seeing patients in Los Angeles thereafter with one goal in mind: to save lives and to help people get out of pain as quickly as possible. Within the first year I was getting calls from people in severe pain with hemorrhoids, anal skin tags, STDs, IBS, etc. from all over California. Shortly thereafter, the Proctology Institute began seeing patients both nationally and internationally for cosmetic anal skin tag removal and anal cosmetic surgery due to our aesthetic approach.

I noticed there was a need for my service in other locations because it was difficult for patients with these ailments to sit in their car and travel far so and I expanded to Newport Beach, Beverly Hills, Huntington Beach and Irvine. When I was a child, my father once told me that your character is your destiny- that’s how I got here today.

Has it been a smooth road?
The challenge that I have overcome recently (thanks to modern technology) was that I was receiving many calls from patients that were in too much pain to travel even a short distance to see me. As a result, I now offer Virtual Consultations and have expanded my services to “House Calls”. Seeing a Proctologist is a very private encounter and we strive to maintain the utmost privacy for our patients. The gratitude I receive from treating a patient in the comforts of their home or hotel is beautiful.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Proctology Institute story. Tell us more about the business.
The Proctology Institute is known for accommodating all our patients (virtual consultations and concierge house calls, and if necessary early mornings or late nights), immediate test results, and using the most cutting edge technology in the operating room during surgery. It’s funny to say but I have become known as the Proctologist that can get rid of hemorrhoids fast and virtually painless all with exceptional cosmetic results! Did you know that 75% of the human population will get a hemorrhoid at some point in their lives? I am most proud of treating my pregnant patients (most pregnant women do get hemorrhoids). The responsibility of a pregnant women is insurmountable and alleviating this patient population from pain with exceptional cosmetic results is very rewarding.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The future of Proctology is very certain – so long as there is pain, there will be a need for Proctologists in Los Angeles and throughout California. Although there have been many advances in the field of Proctology, I feel the biggest emerging trend which we have been on the forefront of developing at the Proctology Institute has been the field of Cosmetic Proctology and Anal/Vaginal Rejuvenation. There has been a great demand for scarless anal cosmetic surgery for the treatment of anal skin tags as well as anal bleaching for buttocks and anal hyperpigmentation. Additionally, there has been a growing demand in making both the anal and vaginal areas appear more youthful with radiofrequency technology to tighten and rejuvenate these intimate areas.
