Today we’d like to introduce you to Max Jolly.
Hi Max, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My father is Australian and started exposing me to the sea at a young age. I started working on boats and teaching sailing back in 2006 in Long Beach. I was hired at the local community sailing center which I still work at to this day. I have also worked on private yachts, research vessels, and houseboats. I started this business when I realized people just want to go sailing and have a safe and genuine experience, and not necessarily learn how to sail. We opened in 2019 running out of Shoreline Village/Rainbow Harbor in Long Beach.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road. The main struggle has been keeping our vessel in working order. Boats are notorious for having issues and breaking down and we have to be on top of the maintenance every day.
