Today we’d like to introduce you to Mavie Corral.
Mavie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I used to be part of a rap group named Da Paranormal. For our album covers and other marketing products we always had to do photo shoots and video shoots. Sometimes the graphic designers would take longer than expected or would cancel our appointments. It was at that moment that I decided to go back to school for graphics and multimedia. I then took our music career into my hands. Since 2009 I had been shooting more than making music and kinda put my music on the back burner. In 2014, I decided to stop touring and doing shows. I still make music as a hobby but not professionally anymore. I loved being behind a camera, so I proceeded to make a business out of it. I opened up GhosthouseFX in 2016 and have been working for myself full time since then.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As a young man growing up, especially doing most of my work in the music industry, I started doing drugs and drinking a lot. I would lose focus very easily and spend my money on useless things. Once I cleaned my act up, I realized I had no money to grow my company, So I struggled financially. Somehow, I picked myself up and have begun to get myself out of the whole I once dug. In order to do this, I have cut ties with friends and other relationships.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
GhosthouseFX is a Printing and Multimedia company. We take all of your ideas and put them into a digital format. We can brand your company or work with what you have. We take all of your logos and designs and put them in to print, whether it be business cards, flyers, posters or banners. We like to say, if you can think it, we can print it. Other services we offer are photography, video, web design and data transfer. Normally once a company has all of their marketing materials and is almost ready to start receiving clients, they begin to build a website. For a website or for your flyers you normally need photos. once everything is in place and now you need to promote your business online, we build video ads and commercials for your company. We specialize in printing. This asset has become our strongest point. We are proud of our unique and professional designs. I love to see the look on people’s faces when they see their ideas come to life. I think what sets us aside from everyone else is that we can help you with all of your media needs from beginning to end without ever having to search for a company that specializes in this and another that specializes in that. We are the perfect one stop shop for businesses.
What were you like growing up?
I have always been very outgoing. I love to be the center of attention so I crack a lot of jokes. I can make you feel like you have been my friend for decades. As a child, we were pretty poor so all I really had was the good times with my friends and family. I can say I had one of the best childhoods as far as freedom and happiness goes. I always had a passion for football. I loved playing till the sun went down. I grew up watching the 49ers so that’s my team until this day. I was raised around gangs and domestic violence, two things that I believe made me the kind-hearted man I am today. I cared too much that’s why I never joined a gang. I always knew the way my mom was treated was wrong, so I promised myself never to raise my had at a woman no matter the situation.
