Meet Maury Rogow of Rip Media Group in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maury Rogow.

Maury, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born in Pittsburgh PA. I dreamed of being in films and movies one day…that was so far off a dream that I started my career in what was exciting and attainable, communications. I worked at AT&T corporate in the Washington DC area in sales, I left to pursue a new dream of being with a start-up company, and build something from scratch. I left AT&T for a tiny company named GeoTel that was competing with major companies.

We did, and we started winning, big. We sold the entire company to Cisco System for 2 Billion.

From there, I had a roller coaster ride of being wealthy and then losing it all.

Starting fresh after that ride, I came to Hollywood to become a Producer. I produced two films, then found a niche bringing Hollywood production and animation to businesses.

Now, we have produced 1,000 projects for Comcast, Cisco, Amgen, and hundreds of start-ups, and I am working on the next wave of video: Interactive and Personalized Video. It will change the market.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a tough road full of potholes and some great moments.

I have struggled with budgets, personalities, and technology changing the landscape.

I’ve put a presentation together based on these challenges and mentor business founders and young producers as to how to build a business in three phases.

I’m happy to share this with you as well.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We stand out because we are a premier storyteller for businesses, and tell their stories visually.

We are known as the top Whiteboard Animation studio, but mix media like live action, and animation into our work. We solve the major issues businesses have: Expressing why they are different and valuable and qualifying themselves as unique. Through video (commercials, social media, digital), we create value for everyone.

The basis of a great story lies in the ‘S.T.U.F.F.’ That is to say that a brand/story will only be memorable if they tap viewers emotions by being SEXY, TOUCHING, UNIQUE, FUNNY or elicit FEAR.

We are also on the forefront of innovation with the ability to create a different story for every single viewer.

The dream in marketing is having a one to one relationship with customers, and send only the content they want to see. But, that is far too expensive, until two months from now, when we release our personalized video platform.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, it’s perfect to be in Hollywood.

There is such an excitement around being a part of Hollywood, & being a part of the new age of storytelling.

They do need a plan and mentorship. These two things are really not apparent to a newcomer in this city.
