Meet Mauricio Arrioja of MA MEDIA PRODUCTIONS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mauricio Arrioja.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started in College (LACC & CSUN) and began working on different thesis projects at USC, UCLA, AFI & Columbia.

After school was done, began working as a PA for commercials, music videos, award shows, and film festivals.

Working as a PA, made me humble and gave me more perspective in treating people and other companies…

A few years ago people reached out to me to help them with budgets and schedules for their projects. Slowly I learned by trial and error; and as I move forward, I have a lot of returning clients as well as new ones inquiring about Budgets.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not really, at least in my experience, there are always new unexpected challenges, road blocks that sometimes felt impossible at the time that happened. The best is to keep your chin up and be in a positive mood to overcome difficult times.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I specialize in budgeting, scheduling, pitch decks, and line producing. Which is helping, aid film & media productions in guiding them through the steps of pre-production and production. Managing a company is not an easy thing to do. This is what I do. Sometimes it’s challenging when clients have different perspectives.

I’m proud to say that when I read scripts I come up with very accurate budgets. Based on multiple past experiences, I’ve become a savvy Line Producer when it comes to money management.

What matters most to you? Why?
The client relationship. It is because of returning clients that I get new referrals. And new doors open!

Something that really matters to me is creating a strong rapport from the first time we meet. I don’t focus on getting as many clients as I can get. My focus is on the actual filmmakers (people) and their stories they want to tell. Most of the times we make lifetime trustworthy friendships!
My goal is to become their adviser and aide when it comes to managing their financial structure, and be able to finish a project effectively.
