Meet Matthew Leeb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Leeb.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Matthew. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio in a pretty musical family. My father played in bands his whole life up until he passed in February. Music was a huge part of my Mothers life as well and it was something I was drawn to from a young age. I’ve been writing since I was a little kid. Lyrics, stories, etc. Eventually, this turned into me writing music. I started making Beats on an MPC 2000 xl that my mother bought me at age 15. I think she saw it as a positive outlet for my otherwise angsty teenager self. Honestly, that changed my life. Through the tribulations and uncertainty of life, I’ve always had that as an outlet to express myself. Today I’m lucky enough to also make a living at it.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road, but no road is really. Also, there’s no excitement or growth in comfortability. I don’t want to say there were struggles because that’s subjective and we all have ups and downs. But, there’s been plenty of challenges. Becoming a parent at a young age was a huge challenge emotionally but beautiful. Always attempting to be heard, from a musical standpoint, or any creative venture for that matter is a constant challenge.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m a Music Producer/composer and I also do Location Sound on set. Kind of anything to do with music, sound or recording, I’m your guy.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is definitely a personal idea that I think we all “chase”. To me, I guess it’s waking up everyday and doing what I love while nurturing and growing with the people I care about. Sounds a bit cliche but its true.
