Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Buser.
Matthew, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I came up playing music and sports, even playing publicly all the way through law school at the University of Miami Law. Because of my passions, I knew I was best suited for talent advocacy. When I moved from Atlanta to Miami in 2008, that became my focus. I opened a second location in Los Angeles because of the need to have roots on the ground on the west coast.
Has it been a smooth road?
Dealing with sensitive relationships and understanding how to break down complicated legal principles to creatives is never easy. While this is a fun industry, it’s still lawyering at the end of the day.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m known for being an aggressive, but a congenial representative for entertainers and athletes. My company handles corporate formation/governance, transactional matters and brand protection (trademark and copyright). I’m proud that this is my firm and I’ve done this largely on my own. What sets me apart is I prefer to be on the ground and in the studio and to have a very active roll in my clients’ careers.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the saturation of people in my industry, the weather and the laid back vibes, despite the hustle. Obviously, I hate the traffic, but who doesn’t?
