Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Miner.
Matt, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m originally from Washington, D.C., but I grew up in Colorado and went to college in Boulder before graduating from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington in 2009. Throughout high school and college, I was very active in the indie and punk music scenes and also with electronic music culture. After graduating, I wrote for several big alt-weekly newspapers, including LA Weekly, the Stranger (Seattle) and Westword (Denver), focusing mainly on music but covering a pretty wide range of subjects.
In 2014, I worked for Green Galactic PR, where Lynn Tejada, who is a fantastic publicist, taught me a great deal about public relations. I founded ENABLER PR + DIGITAL in 2015. Three of my four grandparents were in advertising (both grandfathers and my paternal grandmother), so it always seemed probable that I would go into media. Since then, I’ve been working very hard to build my own business with the goal of collaborating with some of my favorite musicians and labels.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting any small business is difficult, especially with how the economy has changed during my lifetime, but I’ve been fortunate to work with many awesome clients who really inspire me. Having clients that you really believe in makes it easy to believe in yourself and keep going. It’s tremendously rewarding to work with genuine artists who do what they do out of love for music and the drive to create. Reading a great interview with one of my clients or seeing their music covered by a big outlet makes any struggle more than worth it.

ENABLER PR + DIGITAL is a full-service media agency.
