Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Larsen

Hi Matt, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began my real estate journey in 2017 after spending 13 years in Mammoth pursuing a career in snowboarding. Coming from an action sports background, I was no stranger to falling and getting back up again—an invaluable mindset when starting a new career in a new area.

When I started as a solo agent, I felt like I had no idea what I was doing. I eventually partnered with a friend who was already successful in real estate, and through that experience, I learned the systems, strategies, and work ethic needed to thrive in this business.

Since then, we’ve grown our team to 15 agents and two admins, closing approximately $100 million in annual production volume. Our focus is on Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, where we take pride in delivering exceptional service and results for our clients.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—real estate is anything but easy. When I first started, I felt completely out of my depth. I had no idea what I was doing, and the uncertainty was overwhelming. Unlike my previous career in snowboarding, where progress was measured by personal skill and perseverance, real estate required an entirely different skill set—one that involved navigating contracts, understanding market dynamics, and building client relationships from scratch.

One of the biggest challenges was breaking into a competitive market with no established network. There were moments when deals fell apart, clients backed out, and self-doubt crept in. The rejection in this industry can be relentless, and early on, I questioned whether I had made the right choice.

Joining a partnership was a turning point, but even then, success didn’t come overnight. It took years of learning, adapting, and putting in the work every single day. Growing any business will come with its own set of challenges—working with the right people, maintaining a strong culture, and ensuring consistency in service. But through it all, I leaned on the resilience I developed from my snowboarding days: when you fall, you get back up. That mindset has been key to overcoming the obstacles along the way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about DB GROUP?
Our business is all about delivering exceptional real estate service with a high level of expertise, strategy, and client care. We specialize in residential real estate throughout Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, handling everything from first-time homebuyers to luxury properties and investment opportunities. What sets us apart is our deep market knowledge, strong negotiation skills, and a team-based approach that ensures our clients always receive top-tier service.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the culture we’ve built. Real estate can be a cutthroat industry, but we’ve created an environment that prioritizes collaboration over competition. Any big plans?

One of our main goals is to strengthen our presence in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties while also exploring opportunities in new markets. We’re also investing in new technology and marketing strategies to give our clients an even greater advantage in today’s fast-paced real estate landscape.

Beyond business growth, we’re committed to developing more educational resources for buyers, sellers, and investors. Real estate can be overwhelming, and we want to empower our clients with the knowledge and confidence to make the best decisions for their future.

On a personal level, I’m always looking for ways to evolve as a leader and mentor within the industry. Helping other agents grow and succeed is something I’m really passionate about, and I see that becoming a bigger part of our long-term vision.

Ultimately, the goal is simple: to continue building a brand that stands for excellence, results, and a truly client-focused experience. We’ve come a long way, but we’re just getting started
