Today we’d like to introduce you to Marvin Khudadian.
Marvin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Started working for my family at their nursery, studied horticulture, landscape architecture, have been operating a landscape design and build business since 2011, specializing in outdoor living. Opened my nursery in Pasadena in 2015, developing it as we go, gearing towards becoming a full landscape center with a retail outlet, wholesale plant production, and landscape related products.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, at times, yes and at times no. I’ve had to build my way up from nothing, so yes, there have been and continue to be hard times. I started doing work you’d term as handyman work to taking on half-million dollar projects and now gearing my nursery towards catering quality plants to homeowners and tradesman alike.
Crown Valley Nursery – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Quality is everything in our line of work. On both the landscape and nursery end, we strive to provide a complete package. Competition is stiff, so we make it a priority to provide quality/unique plants, good workmanship, a knowledgeable staff and ultimately a great user experience. Because of our landscape design and build experience, we offer a little more input to customers when they are seeking advice for their own landscape in our nursery. To our customers, we are known as true professionals of the trade and are highly regarded for our experience both in the nursery and in the landscape field. Customers rely on us and our experience to help them achieve success in their landscapes. We believe we are the true essence of a small business.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Going after this nursery property after the previous business closed down, getting the property and having the opportunity to recreate a successful nursery. The previous nursery was a highly prized business in Pasadena and we are aiming to bring that back, with our own style of course.
