Meet Martinez Walter of DM’s Live Scan and Services in Westlake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martinez Walter.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Martinez. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As an Immigrant from El Salvador, I came here when I was only 14 years old. My mother, a single mother taught me the concept of always working hard and never giving up on anything you do in life. I had a rough childhood in El Salvador, my father was killed when I was 10 and my mother left my brother and me when I was 12 years old when she came to the United States. I had the privilege of attending school here and I was able to attend college where I obtained an Associates Degree in Business management. I was not able to continue to a 4 year University because I have been working since I was 16 years old. In college, I can say that I was lucky to have some good professors that taught me the basic concepts and strategies to start and run a business but life itself has been the best teacher that I could ever have, as the years of working experience accumulated they have taught me very important lessons that got me where I am now.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing in life is easy and if it is, then it is not worth trying. After graduating high school, I began to work in legal offices and non-profit organizations. I started as a receptionist and shortly after I was promoted to Supervisor of the Legal Department. One of the things that motivated me to open my own office was the fact that in my previous jobs I was very limited to provide ideas, maximize productivity and reduce costs for operations without negatively affecting production and customer service. Every time I suggested something I was turned down or they agreed as long as I did it myself, creating in me a sense of low motivation and satisfaction. One day after having a disagreement with one of my supervisors on one of my previous jobs, I realized that I was not happy with what I was doing even though I was making decent money. From then on things changed for me and it pushed me to explore new job opportunities where I could implement my own ideas and challenge myself to accomplish new things that will keep me motivated.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with DM’s Live Scan and Services – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I started a small agency emphasizing in live scan fingerprinting services and other related legal services. We started with three referring agencies and now we have moved up to 20, all of them very satisfied with the service that we provide to their customers. We also serve the general public on a daily basis and what sets us apart from others around the area; is our excellent customer service that we provide each individual that walks through our doors. Our goal is to provide a high-quality service, at a fair price and always with a smile.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our short term goals are to expand to a bigger place and hire more staff to maximize our productivity and provide other potential services that will generate good revenue to the agency such as mobile service.

Our long term goals are to expand to other areas like the Valley, San Bernardino County and other areas where we observe potential market for our business.
