They offer the Custom Shoe Workshop, and children are able to design the shoes themselves as well as hats. She also makes time to give back to at-risk children.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was not easy getting to where I am now coming from Detroit, MI. There so much going on in the city but it’s coming together. I didn’t grow up with a silver spoon status. My mom did hair all my life. I would see the women coming in looking like who did it and what for and walk out looking like divas. I loved to see her transform them and how happy it made them. I knew that I wanted to do the same for others but I didn’t want to do hair. I knew that I’d work in the fashion industry all along. But I knew it would take grit to move on from working at Macys as a sales associate. It was hard work researching dedication. Building a brand like My Pink Kisses wasn’t easy especially without a team. I had to manage sales create them and handle social media.
When I started modeling and acting I went to so many auditions and once booked it sometimes required for you to be to set early in the am or maybe not get off till early in the morning. While on the set of Blackish one day I worked alongside Diddy and was able to speak to him for a moment. Once we began to talk I let him know that I would love to design a pair of My Pink Kisses for his daughters and handed him my card and his response was “I love your hustle”. He told me to speak with his stylist and so I did just that. We exchanged info and later on connected days later I was working as his stylist assistant.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with My Pink Kisses – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I’m so happy to say that all the hard work and late nights have paid off. But you can’t just stop here the show must go on. Now that I’m a mom I must work ten times harder. Mr. Ellis is my motivation and he is the best thing to come into my life.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m looking to expand the brand with my latest collection Lemond Swim. A swimwear collection for women of all shapes and sizes.
