Today we’d like to introduce you to Martin Madar.
Martin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story begins in Slovakia, where as a young child I worked alongside my grandfather to fix mechanical and electrical issues, both inside the house and on our old cars. I grew up in the repair shop. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of my grandfather showing me how to fix things. During my school years I built rally cars as a hobby, and later opened a company installing custom audio systems for luxury cars. I formalized my training and moved to Las Vegas when I was 21.
In Las Vegas I applied my training to solar panel, led lighting, and sound installations. My love for camping and travel eventually led me to the RV scene. I was hooked instantly. I moved to Yuma, Arizona, a hub for RV travel, and worked several years in a prestigious RV repair shop. During that time, I met my soulmate in California, and moved to Los Angeles to start my own RV repair company.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of the main things I have struggled with in starting this company has been to find knowledgeable, reliable, and honest people who I can count on to work with me. For over the first year of my business I ran everything on my own because I had difficulty finding people who had in depth knowledge about everything required to repair RVs. That meant I had to both schedule appointments and work late to finish the jobs. I would say the things that still give me difficulty is managing the schedule, replying to emails, and speaking on the phone. But I love helping people and fixing things, so mostly the experience, though demanding, has been rewarding.
The RV Repair Guy – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company specializes in RV repairs, RV remodels, RV rentals, and RV designs. We work on everything both on and inside the RV. I am most proud of being honest, performing quality work, and making people happy. Sometimes I am the only person a customer has found who could fix the issue with their RV. I think the main asset I have is my attention to detail and performing quality work. I do not cut corners and I work on every RV as though it were my own.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success is the ability to fix an issue and to make the customer happy with my work.

I met Martin at Burningman 2015, he and his girlfriend were camped right next to me on the farthest reaches of the playa. We started talking, It was like they never knew a stranger, and we hit it off instantly. After returning to Joshua tree, we kept in touch and ran into each other a couple more times and I always asked how the RV business was going and told him I was thinking about buying one and living out of it full time when I received my orders for Alaska. Even with his busy schedule he flooded my text inbox with information. I pulled the trigger and bought a Class-C. Martin’s Company is genius because he is mobile and comes to the customer.
The RV Repair GOD drove from Pasadena to Joshua tree and we worked side by side re-sealing the roof, installed heated floors (and bed), inspected the furnace, water heater, all fuses/breakers, structural integrity and refrigerator. He maticulousy inspected every inch of this 30ft by 8ft monstrosity that would make the 4,008 mile journey. After two weeks of blood, sweat and beers, “She” was ready for Alaska. After I asked him how much it was going to cost me for his time, he replied, “Nothing, you’re like a brother and I love working on RVs.” I had to basically force him to take my money.
Martin is one of the most selfless, generous and no-bulls*** human beings out there and I would recommend The RV repair to anyone.

I took my class B Airstream Interstate to Martin. It needed standard maintenance & my generator wouldn’t start. I could not have been more pleased with the results. Martin was meticulous in his work & although the genny hadn’t run for a couple of years, he kept at it until it started up – rough at first, but eventually it hummed. The nice thing is I didn’t have to run around to several places to get everthing tended to. Martin is a professional in every sense of the word & I have total confidence in his abilites to tackle anything related to any RV.
