Meet Chef Marla McGee of Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marla McGee.

Chef Marla McGee has been cooking and throwing parties all of her life. She attended culinary school at the Art Institute of California, Orange County where she graduated with honors. Just 6 days out of school, she was hired as one of the chefs at the 5 Crowns in Corona Del Mar. After her time there, she decided to start her own catering company. Since starting Chef Marla McGee Inc., Marla has catered many events throughout Orange County and has made three appearances on the Pasadena based Crown City News morning TV show CCN Sunrise; all three appearances are available for viewing on YouTube.

Chef Marla prides herself on preparing the highest quality cuisine, using locally sourced produce and the highest quality meats and seafood available. All baked goods are scratch made. Chef Marla does not limit herself nor her clients to just a few preset menus. She will personally meet with each client to determine their needs and budget then create custom menus choices for them.

Chef Marla is available as both a caterer, working out of her kitchen in Costa Mesa and as a Personal Chef working out of your kitchen.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Building a new business is never an easy thing. I have been working on getting my business going for 2 years now and things are finally taking off. It just takes perseverance and focus to attain your goals.

Please tell us about Chef Marla McGee Inc.
Chef Marla McGee Inc. is both a catering company, preparing and serving food that is prepared in our professional kitchen and as a Personal Chef whereby my staff and I, if needed, will come to your location and prepare food for your event on site using a kitchen that you provide.

I am a classically trained chef versed in cuisine from all over the world. I also make many desserts other baked goods for most occasions.

We are very proud of our commitment to quality both in our food and our service.

Unlike many catering companies, we do not use preset menus. Instead, we meet with our clients to determine their needs and budget then we create custom menu choices for them. We feel this really sets us apart from the average catering company.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Honestly, I think the only thing I would do differently is to have gone to culinary school much sooner and become a chef many years before I did. I love what I do now!
