Meet Mark Morrow of Legends of Hollywood Tours

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Morrow.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
11 years ago, I started working in Hollywood as a tour guide. I incorporated pictures and music along with my narration and people loved it. I thought working for myself I could put everything on a big screen TV and add video clips. The idea for LOHT’s was born. My wife Natcha enrolled us in a small business class at SM college and we worked on our business plan. Natcha designed a great website and beautiful brochures and I put together video clips to accompany all the points of interest on the tour. We financed a bus. I solicited DTLA hotels and after a year we had a big online presence on Trip Advisor based on all the 5 star reviews. We received an SBA award for excellence.

Has it been a smooth road?
Building a brand takes time and the first year was a real grind. A tour company has lots of overhead with bus maintenance, insurance, fuel etc so managing cash flow during the slow times is always a challenge. We are still chipping away but we have grown steadily with a good reputation and excellent online reviews. Finding the right tour guides to help has also been a challenge. Good Help is hard to find.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Legends of Hollywood Tours – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
This is Hollywood so I think the tours should be dramatic and theatrical. Our multimedia presentation is like a rolling documentary. We present landmarks, history, film locations, statistics, celebrity homes etc…. It’s a unique multimedia experience. The music, pics, video clips and live narration sets us apart.

I would like to thank Natcha Morrow for the website, brochures, answering phones and the administration duties (& watching our kids while I work !) The JW Marriott/LA LIVE & The Omni Hotel California Plaza for a big push. Tour guide Mick King for his excellent work.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diverse flavor of LA. It’s truly an international melting pot. The different people, food, art, music……the perfect weather!!

Of course, our bad traffic is also legendary.
