Meet Marjan Sarshar of Kreation Organic in Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marjan Sarshar.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Juices and natural remedies to health issues have a long history in Iran, where I am from. I wanted to share a piece of my culture with the community that wanted to eat healthier, but didn’t have any options.

My strong suit is being a mom and I bring my maternal instincts to my business, my baby. The essential nature of my business is making food for people, taking care of them, guiding them towards healthy choices, and healing them when they are sick. To me, being a female business owner feels like being a mom and nurturing a wider community.

In 2005, I started Kreation as an organic café on Montana Ave. in Santa Monica serving only 7 menu items, my favorite Mediterranean and Persian recipes. Because we were one of the first healthy cafes, we were an instant hit for the health conscious eaters who wanted to live a high quality healthy lifestyle.

Later that summer, a retail space immediately adjacent to Kreation became available and I jumped at the opportunity to open the Juicery in that space. September 17, 2011 became the official birthday of Kreation Juicery. When that took off, we started to expand. First we opened Kreation Juicery at 9465 Charleville Blvd, in Beverly Hills. At that time, we were cold pressing juices from my garage!

Now there are over 14 locations and an extensive menu of my original recipes as well as a local factory that presses the juices daily.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As a mother of 2 building a business in one of the largest cities in the country…no it hasn’t always been a smooth road! But when you see how much people love your product, and how it not just instantly satisfies them, but changes their lives, you keep going, no matter what.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
What sets us apart is our quality: Always USDA Certified organic products, cold-pressed technology, and never pasteurizing or using high pressure processing to extend the shelf life of products. You should never be pressured, and neither should your juice!

We do fresh pressed juices and smoothies and offer the city’s largest selection of cold pressed juices. We also have Grab ‘n Go food, desserts, and snacks available for meat lovers, vegetarians, and vegans.

People love our Kleases. We have juice kleanses for detox and programs with juice and food to help get people in the habit of eating clean and still enjoying their food.

We have 3 kafes located in Montana Ave in Santa Monica, 3rd Street in West Hollywood, and Abbott Kinney in Venice, The menus are largely Mediterranean and Persian dishes, but we have so much more. People love our egg dishes, kabobs, salads, and wraps.
