Today we’d like to introduce you to Marine Demirjian.
Marine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I consider myself an Angelino. I grew up in Los Angeles and loved it here so much that I chose to stay at UCLA, where I received my bachelor’s degree, Medical Degree, and then where I completed my medical specialty and subspecialty training.
I started my first private practice in 2013 and subsequently my second practice, which specializes in noninvasive body sculpting in 2015.
I opened New Image Body Sculpting, alongside co-founder Dr. Gennady Landa, given noninvasive body contouring is a new, exciting and rapidly expanding field. Prior to Coolsculpting, there were very few alternatives to eliminate fat from the body. Coolsculpting revolutionized the medical field by offering a nonsurgical fat elimination procedure. I saw tremendous possibilities and need with this procedure and wanted to help make it available for those who were interested.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
All business ventures have many challenges and there is always a learning curve. The biggest struggle with offering a new service such as CoolSculpting to patients was the fact that most people had not heard of CoolSculpting. They did not know what this service was given the field of noninvasive fat reduction is a relatively new one on the market. A lot of time was spent on empowering people with the knowledge of what CoolSculpting was and its many possibilities.
