Meet Marie Monti

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie Monti.

Hi Marie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Originally from France, I moved to LA six years ago. Since I moved here, I have been developing my career as an artist and singer-songwriter on a global scale.

I came to LA on a student visa and on my own, without knowing anyone here or having any idea where to start – let alone how to succeed in this industry. All I had was my dream and determination to make it happen.

It was (and still is!) a long road to get to where I am today and I’m extremely grateful for all the people I’ve met and the opportunities I’ve been blessed with. I’ve seen myself grow as an artist in ways I could have never imagined, from writing and singing songs in English, Spanish and French to collaborating with A-List artists and going on tour in Latin America.

I am currently working on my first EP called “DIRTIE POP”, a fusion of Pop, Dance, Afrobeats and Latin sounds, that will be out by the end of 2022. One of my songs is currently in Consideration for a Grammy Nomination and I have just received the HAPAWARDS for “Best Afro-beats Collaboration” at the HAPAWARDS 2022 along with a Nomination for Best Female Independent Artist.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a professional artist is extremely challenging. You have to deal with pressure constantly; from yourself for always wanting to get better, stay inspired and bring value to the World, from the audience, your fans, whom you have to please and keep entertained, and from the industry – your business partners – to whom you need to constantly prove your worth and value on a financial level.

You gotta stay grounded while keeping the flame alive at the same time. The key to me was to find and maintain a balance between the creative and the business side of my art, set boundaries when needed and never lose sight of who I am.

I understood pretty early that being a musician wasn’t a “job” but a lifestyle and that I would have to really want it and everything that comes with it to last in this game. As an independent artist, I am involved in every part of my craft and I have learnt to love it all, at all times, in the highs and lows.

The most challenging part for me was to find a core team of people whom I could trust and rely on. Ever since I found my Team and surrounded myself with the right people, things have started to align in the most divine way!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a global singer-songwriter. I call my style of music “Dirtie Pop”, a very unique fusion of pop, afro-beats, dance and Latin rhythms. I am trilingual in French, English and Spanish and write music in all three languages, which gives my songs an international appeal.

Within the developing stage of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with luxury brands and to share the stage with A-list talents from all over the World.

One of my songs is currently in Consideration for a Grammy Nomination and I have just received the Award for “Best Afro-beats Collaboration” at the HAPAWARDS 2022 along with a Nomination for Best Female Independent Artist.

My first EP “DIRTIE POP” will be out by the end of 2022, followed by collaborations with international artists such as Afro B, Austin Millz, Jenn Morel, Mundial, and more already set for release. The second single from this opus “PARADISE” in collaboration with Grammy Winning producers The Best Soundz, actually just came out and it’s available everywhere!

What makes you happy?
Music (obviously)! Whenever I write or sing is when I feel my best because no matter what I’m going through, it reminds me that I’m alive and blessed. It helps me connect with my inner-self and my emotions on the deepest level. Music’s power to enhance feelings and create beauty in life moves me in a way nothing else does. It’s very spiritual.
