Meet Maribel Garcia of Culver City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maribel Garcia

Hi Maribel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from small town in the state of Oaxaca/Mexico, and currently reside in LA CA. At age of 17 I became a mom for the first time , to my son Ramses, and at 22 I had my second kid, Naomi my daughter. I have always work hard to provide to my family.
Born in Oaxaca and raised in Mexico City since I was 6 years old till at the age of 19, when I decide to move to California to reconnect with my father who had previously moved (when He and my mom got divorced). Though the readjustment process was more complicated it wasn’t much of a challenge for me. But one thing that was outstanding is that the higher education was essential especially that i had a child that need to provide the essentials for living, so then i had to resume my studies and finished Hi-School get mi diploma then apply for the Esthetic program to get my License.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I was born in Oaxaca, Mexico, and grew up in Mexico City. My parents divorced when I was very young, and my mother took me and my younger siblings to live with her parents in Mexico City. The change was hard, and I had a lot of challenges. I helped my mom take care of my siblings and had to grow up fast to deal with all the changes in my life. The good thing is that those challenges helped me develop my most outstanding quality, which is empathy. Although starting school in a new city felt lonely, it also helped me develop another well-known quality of mine, which is motivation. I started dedicating myself to immersing myself in a new culture. The same thing happened when I moved to California and had to deal with the fact that I was trying to reconnect with my dad, which is technically reconnecting with a stranger. It took me some time to develop my new life. At age 40, I finished high school, enrolled in the Esthetician program, got my license, and started my own business, “Maribel’s Magic.” It is my dream come true!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a licensed esthetician with an established business. I have multiple certifications, including waxing and hair removal, lash lifts, brow lamination, and more. I specialize in hyperpigmentation and aging conditions of the skin. My clients and students know me for my dedication and support in helping them achieve their goals. In addition to my work with clients, I am an instructor at a beauty school. My mentoring program for my students makes a big difference in their lives. I am proud of my dedication and passion for helping others, which sets me apart from others.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I am proud to say that at 45, I have grown in many ways. My physical and spiritual sides have developed along with my mental strength. This combination of important aspects of myself has had a huge impact on my development in this world. Dealing with all the changes in this new era can be overwhelming at times, but having the strength and stability to see things wisely and take the next steps forward with my goals has made all the difference. i still have more dreams to accomplishing!
