Meet Maria Videla of The Art of Room Design in La Canada Flintridge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Videla.

Maria, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have a background in marketing but my passion has always been design. After relocating to LA from my native Argentina I decided to fully commit to design and graduated from the UCLA Interior Design Program in 2002. The same year, my former interior design company, MV Design Group, was established in Burbank, California. In 2013 it evolved into The Art of Room Design, a storefront studio and full-service interior design firm in La Canada Flintridge, California. Now we have projects throughout Northern and Southern California as well as Park City, Utah.

I have has appeared on HGTV and Beautiful Homes and Great Estates 2016, in Better Homes & Gardens magazines, and have participated in multiple Pasadena Showcase Houses, including the Guest House in 2016 and Rock Glam Bedroom Suite in 2017.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I feel very fortunate that it has been a pretty smooth road and that I’m able to work for some wonderful clients over and over again. Each project is unique and presents its own set of challenges but over the years we have developed a team of great people I trust and we strive to give our clients very personal spaces.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Art of Room Design – what should we know?
The Art of Room Design does mostly large-scale remodels and interior design. Our style is mostly transitional but we love to integrate our client’s art collections or their cherished objects and create homes that are a reflection of their passions and lifestyle. Not two projects look the same because they are tailored to our clients’ individual tastes as well as the architecture of the homes and location.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
There’s so many people over the years I’m extremely grateful for, from very supportive family, friends and staff, amazing clients to the large organizations that have helped me and my company grow to where we are today. Some highlights are the UCLA Interior Design Program, the members at Pasadena Showcase House and the ASID Pasadena Chapter.
