Meet Margarita Kouzel of SacredPlay in Santa Monica and Simi Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Margarita Kouzel.

Margarita, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
About 12 years ago I took a yearlong Coaches Training Institute (CTI) Leadership program and I participated in a ropes course. The experience rocked me to my core, in a great way, and I knew I had to do this for a living. Namely, to inspire others (kids, youth and adults) to get out of your comfort zone and take a Leap of Faith. It was so freeing and I got the learning on a cellular level; not by thinking but by doing.

Everything about experiential education resonated with me so I studied and learned how to facilitate in Northern California. I came down to SoCal in 2008, started working for another company and for the last 9 years have been a senior facilitator.

In December of last year I started my own company, SacredPlay, because this is my life’s sacred work and I wanted to include and create a specialized focus on people in recovery and those that have suffered trauma.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For the most part the road has been smooth in that I know this is the path I’m supposed to be on. I know this work has much value and I’ve personally seen the changes in people along the way.

The struggles I’m facing are getting the clients! I’m focusing on marketing at the moment and that is not my strong suit. I have a lot of encouragement out there and Word of Mouth is spreading, but I still lack a solid client base.

Please tell us about SacredPlay.
We believe in experiential education because we believe in the power of play. Playing is a vital part of life and through which much is learned. Wanting to make a positive difference in the lives of youth and adults SacredPlay uses cooperative games, team-building initiatives, and ropes courses in an educational setting. Through our challenging adventure activities and focused reflection, we find that participants are motivated to achieve outstanding progress personally, professionally, and socially.

SacredPlay is a full-service organization dedicated to excellence across a range of services that helps multitudes of individuals, teams, treatment centers and corporate businesses to achieve positive and lasting change.

Removed from the pressures and stresses of daily life, clients are given the time and space to look within themselves and discover the fundamental truths that will guide them through their journey of recovery. SacredPlay challenges clients to push their limits, and also brings out emotions and behavior patterns quickly so we can assist in processing those emotions and channeling them in more constructive ways.

We specialize in Recovery. Our entire program revolves around healing with an advanced approach using a diverse method for drug addiction and alcohol abuse. SacredPlay therapy includes an assortment of activities that enhance personal growth and team building. At SacredPlay, we offer Adventure Therapy to improve confidence and self-esteem, expand comfort zones, and enhance leadership skills.

I would have hired a professional marketing guru!

We custom design each program with client’s goals in mind. A 2 hour on-site program ranges $250-500
Going to a ropes course specific site has costs like site rental fee, facilitators, insurance, etc. starts at $1000
Prices vary depending on modality of work and we offer on going programming too. We will work with you!
