Meet Mardarius Thomas of M3: The Corporate Coach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mardarius Thomas.

Hi Mardarius, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my career consulting journey in 2019 after receiving my Master of Science in Education. Immediately after graduation, I started my job search by sending my resumé to over 60 institutions of higher learning. To my surprise, I only received two interviews. Just like any normal twenty-something-year-old, I was disappointed. Why could I not land a job?

After reaching out to institutions, I found that my resumé and cover letter did not speak well of my professional experiences. Thereafter, I reached out to mentors, studied resumé writing, and researched applicant tracking systems to increase my employability score.

I revamped my resumé and applied to 27 jobs, both in higher education and corporate America, and received 19 interviews in 2 months! Once I saw this change, I wanted to do the same for others at an affordable rate. My goal is to help others ‘Level Up’ in their career.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. I started selling merch to bring awareness to my resume writing business. It was important to me to get the word out to others, and people like tangible items. I also had to develop a more strategic marketing plan to highlight my clients’ accomplishments. Once my audience saw that my clients were landing jobs with Fortune 500 companies and institutions of higher learning, they started to pay more attention. The biggest struggle was capturing an audience and making sure they knew how valuable the service was.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about M3: The Corporate Coach?
M3: The Corporate Coach’s mission is to decrease the wealth gap by crafting accomplishment-based professional documents that increase our clients’ employability scores. I think what makes us different is our ability to be relatable to our clients and having real conversations about work and life. It was important to me that our clients be the main focal point of what we do and why we do it.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to never give up, no matter how hard it gets. There have been a number of challenges along the way, but perseverance and my personal faith have helped me get through those tough times.
