Meet Marco Delgado of Collective Hair in Pasadena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marco Delgado.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started cutting hair at 13yrs old in my parent’s backyard, so that I could save up for clothes and any wants. I Enrolled in beauty school in order to pay for college, but instead I fell in love with the industry and haven’t looked back.

I was raised by immigrant parents who taught me the value of hard work and good ethics.

Early on in my career I worked with a men’s grooming line, American Crew, teaching men’s grooming across the country.

I was very fortunate to apprentice and work alongside a few celebrity hairstylists. That lead me to doing hair for publications like Maxim Magazine, music videos and fashion week for designers such as; Oscar de la Renta and Hugo Boss.

My real passion is giving back to the community through haircuts for the homeless and less fortunate. When I was 8yrs old my dad brought a homeless man to live with us.

All my experience has lead me to teach men’s grooming across the country for V76 and our in salon haircutting classes.

I recently partnered up with two amazing women, Adrienne Reed and Rachael Scotti, to open Collective Hair in Pasadena, CA.

Did I mention that I am happily married and have 3 children?

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
While I was attending cosmetology school my brother got busted for selling drugs and served 8yrs of his life in federal penitentiary. He was my best friend.

Shortly after at the age of 20 and have way through my apprenticeship, I became a father. My then girlfriend and I broke up, so I struggled balancing work and family life.

I was a cocky young hairstylist and tried to rush my career by salon hopping. Now that I’m a couple decades in, I have learned to be patient.

Learned from my past failed business venture and partnered up with couple of amazing ladies to form Collective Hair.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Collective Hair – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a hair salon, Collective Hair, in the heart of Pasadena, CA. We, Collective Hair, specialize in all things hair; curly, straight, long, short, men, women, you name it.

I personally enjoy making hair beautiful and natural, but I am known for pixie cuts and men’s hair.

What sets us apart is our remarkable customer service and the ability to work on any type of hair.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our plan is to open multiple locations and a teaching academy. Maybe even barbershops.
