Meet Marcine Franckowiak

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcine Franckowiak.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Marcine. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I moved to Los Angeles four years ago. I started working for a scenic company that painted Galaxy’s edge, Star Wars land at Disney. Since then, I went freelance working for hand-painted companies such as Overallmurals, Walldogs, Acme, and Old City artists. I’m so fortunate to work for such good people and have been doing work all over the city. The painted ads range from ground level walls to hanging off 30 story buildings. It’s been both amazing and trying working through the pandemic. However, my job is the definition of social distancing when you are working ten stories in the air. I have gotten to see all the amazing peaceful protests from high up and painting through the chaos of sirens and helicopters.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The job of hand-painted ads are far from smooth, you have to navigate through harsh weather changes And limited supplies during this pandemic. While the protests were at their peak in Hollywood, we came to the worksite to find the gate entrance chained. Against our best judgment, we climbed over the razor wire fence, since the job has got to get done. We won’t do that again 😂, but we always gotta push through to get each job done as fast and as safe as possible.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
All of the companies I work for specialize in hand paint advertisements and production jobs. They all can replicate photo-realistic advertising to perfection on huge walls in under a week. Overallmurals has been killing it this whole pandemic, they are going strong and tackling every obstacle As this pandemic is raging while keeping the safety of their employees in mind.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I simply define success as getting hyped to go do my job. I love painting and doing it for a job is what I’m so grateful for. If you love what you do, that’s success.
