Meet Marci Klein of Klein Creative Media in Redondo Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marci Klein.

Since her graduation from University of California at San Diego in 1987 with a BS degree in communications, Marci has dedicated her career to the reality TV genre. She is currently a member of the Directors Guild of America and the Producer’s Guild of America.

She’s produced, directed and written for some of the most recognizable programs in syndication, cable and Network Television, including Fox’s “Celebrity Boxing” WB’s “Elimidate Deluxe”, “Dr. Phil”, “The Swan”, and “The Insider” to name a few.

One of Marci’s talents is to tell stories. Interviewing non-professionals, she has a way of making the subject comfortable in front of the camera, which makes for a more gripping story.

Marci has had numerous nominations and has earned a Los Angeles Emmy award for her work with the Blind children’s Center. Marci has also earned a Cable Ace award for work with the Los Angeles Fire Department. Her early work aired at the “Women in Film” and “Mill Valley” Film Festivals.

With over 20 years in the television field, Marci is now telling stories for real people. And like her broadcast stories, she uses experience to tell the best story possible with your existing media or shooting new footage.

Marci has also become a sports pilot and has acquired part 107 Exemption, making her one of the few drone operators who is legal to pilot a drone for commercial purposes.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have to say I have had a great career in both television and in my own small business so far. The biggest challenge for me was balancing family life with work life. I’m also limited in traveling to the story. In the past, I could get on a plane and go to the story. Now, I have to be a little more careful about choosing stories that are closer to home. But I am always grateful that I have a job telling stories with video. There is nothing more fulfilling to me, and I welcome any challenge as long as I can keep telling stories.

Please tell us about Klein Creative Media.
At Klein Creative Media, we produce Web Videos, Commercials, Real Estate Videos, Aerial Videos, and Social Media Content. My specialty throughout my variety of services is my emphasis on storytelling. Being a reality television director for over 20 years has given a strong ability to elicit tone, atmosphere, ambiance and drama within each story we tell.

What makes me most proud of Klein Creative Media is our opportunity to be nominated for 5 LA Emmy Awards. Winning one of those nominations sets us apart from other Video Production Companies who lack actual industry experience. We are able to create a network quality video with a small corporate budget.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is learning how to surf. I remember being scared to death of the ocean waves. But who would have known that 35 years later I would still be catching waves and loving it. Best thing ever!
