Today we’d like to introduce you to Marc Narrie.
Marc, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was in Oregon visiting one of my best friends Ronnie when his dad taught me to roast on a hot air popcorn maker. I went all over town hunting down hot air popcorn makers from second hand stores because I was a poor grad student. We began selling our non infused coffee at local markets under the name Buddha Beans® Coffee Co. About six months after begging to roast, I rediscovered Hemp/CBD and figured out how to infuse coffee beans after months and months of R&D. We are now across the United States in 90+ stores ranging from cryotherapy to grocery stores.
Has it been a smooth road?
Not anything close to a smooth road and it continues to not he smooth, but the journey has been amazing regardless of the roadblocks. Regulations on CBD/Hemp change daily making it difficult for us to buy anything in bulk, and that is a minor problem we deal with in the CBD/Hemp world. We will continue to overcome the difficulties and are excited for the future of CBD/Hemp.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are coffee roasters that specialize in CBD/Hemp infused whole bean coffee. We offer both whole bean and ground coffee. We are soon coming out with a cold brew and have a couple of other products in the pipeline. We always have four different regions of beans which include; Mexico, Colombia, Africa and Decaf. We change the exact bean and farm depending on market offerings.
Most proud of? That’s so hard to say. I am truly proud of how far Buddha Beans has come in such a short period and this is just the begging for Buddha Beans. It is always great to see our products in stores that I have shopped at since a very young age, such as Jackson Marker and Cafe in Culver City (born and raised in Culver City California)
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
It is a great place to start a business, but the startup costs are typically very high and rent is out of this world. Los Angeles presents more opportunities for companies than the majority of places around the world. I would suggest starting here for certain types of businesses. Like I said there are tons of blessings and curses that come along with this city but I am extremely glad we began here. The landscape across Los Angeles is very diverse which makes a good home for a wide variety of stores. The people of Los Angeles have been amazing to Buddha Beans Coffee co.
I would say that our city can be more comforting and inviting to new businesses/business owners. Los Angeles can feel like a cold and dark place at times with only sharks and snakes.
