Today we’d like to introduce you to Mafiyo Rapkind.
Hi Mafiyo, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a Hip Hop artist that runs his own catering company. I started my career in a group from Sacramento CA called HYRSK (High-Risk) consisting of me and my two younger cousins. We had early success doing music with bay area legends such as Messy Marve and Sann Quinn , B-Legit of the click, Mac Mall, Richie Rich and others. After touring the west coast and dropping two cd’s (HYRSK Legal Tender and HYRSK Risky Business) i decided to get involved in local cable television. I started off at Access Sacramento producing weekly shows, RAPKIND TV, which showcased local talent in and around northern California, until one day i was invited to a sorority party and met actress Vivica A Fox. Viv loved what me and my show was about and she referred me to a company in Los Angeles called PTVN (Punch TV Network) Once i became involved with PTVN i moved to Los Angeles, I’ve had great success in television cable and over the air TV. In 2018 my cousin Anthony Parks came to me with a business idea for a catering compqany called the Kraken Taco. It was an instant hit with consumers, people loved the tacos. We have catered and continue to serve celebrity events, parties and the general public throughout Ca. Our business partner, actor Omar Gooding loves the tacos so much he tells all of his celebrity friends about our tacos and we stay very busy thanks in part to him.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been smooth but I have definitely experienced some twists and turns and a few hard stops. Some of the struggles have been adjusting to how fast technology advances and keeping up, I have found it very important to stay as close to the cutting edge as possible.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m known for my rap career and my cable tv show mostly. I have found that I am very good at creating intersting subject matter which leads people to inquire about whats inside. I now specialize in a couple different industries, as I have recently produced and published two films to streaming, BAY LAWS and IN ALL TRUTH found on prime video, Tubi and other platforms. Content creation is a huge part of my life including music, and also The Kraken Taco our catering company keeps us busy.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I do not have an opinion on where the industry is going because I’m concerned we may not be the same America in 5-10 years due to the current turmoil and atmosphere coming from Washington
