Meet Lynne Shirvandehi-Gow of goddesslynneBODYandSKIN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynne Shirvandehi-Gow.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lynne. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My working life has taken many twists and turns. I’ve spent many years in administrative jobs working for places like Wells Fargo Bank and USC, and in sales, first for a title insurance company and then as a mortgage loan officer. In 1994 I went to work for a company that provided personal-growth seminars and workshops – and worked for 3 years in management and as a coach and trainer. But, the Universe had different plans for me! The company went out of business, and I needed to decide what was next for me.

I decided to go to massage school. I knew I wanted to make a difference for people, but, rather than the large groups I had been working with, I felt that one-on-one would be more fulfilling. After completing my courses I tried a couple of jobs and then chose to work for a skin care salon in West L.A. It was wonderful working with clients doing massage and other spa body treatments. But…I needed more!

I went to esthetics school and was licensed in 2003!! My world opened up and I found my passion!

I quickly became the lead esthetician and built a busy schedule of new and returning clients. Even thought the tough years I was successful. In 2013 I felt ready to take my professional life to the next level, and goddesslynneBODYandSKIN was created! 1/17/14 DAY ONE!!

Many clients followed me to my new work home in Westwood Village, and I continue to build my clientele. I invest a great deal of my time and energy into continuing education, studying Cosmetic Chemistry at UCLA Extension as well as numerous courses offered by professional educators from the International Dermal Institute and PCA.

In addition to expert custom facials and peels, I offer skin care coaching to help my clients achieve their goals. My newest treatment, microcurrent, is a holistic, natural alternative to botox and fillers, rejuvenating skin and body to achieve a fresher, more youthful look.

And, as of this writing, I am VERY close to launching my own line of professional skin care products!! Working with formulators and ingredient experts is coming to fruition. Watch for this launch in early 2017!!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh, my!! As enjoyable as the road to owning my own business has been, of course, there have been some bumps! In the final years of my job, when it became apparent that I was outgrowing the environment, there was definitely some frustration.

The first year in business was a huuuuuge financial leap of faith! The stress and long hours weren’t easy, but the reward of being able to serve my clients in my peaceful and pretty studio was worth it.

Reaching my ideal client is also an ongoing challenge. I continue to pursue promoting my business through multiple channels to women and men who are interested in investing in their skin and their well-being. Professional skin care doesn’t have to be prohibitively expensive, but it IS and investment and I seek those willing to put themselves first.

Please tell us about goddesslynneBODYandSKIN.
goddesslynneBODYandSKIN is a professional skin care studio. As a licensed esthetician I provide skin care treatments and waxing, as well as home skin care coaching. I retail the best in professional home care products, and I’m about to launch my own line of skin care products.

The Goddess Facial is my most popular facial treatment. It is a fully customized, 60-minute facial treatment, combining classic European facial techniques with state of the art technology and products. The Peaceful Brazilian Bikini Wax for Women is one of my signature offerings. I have spent many years perfecting this treatment and helping women feel fresh and gorgeous without the discomfort (and sometimes injury) found at chain waxing shops and with inexperienced waxers.

goddesslynneBODYandSKIN is close to perfect (if I do say so myself!) from the #peacefulpretty atmosphere and decor to the convenient parking at my central location in Westwood Village. I’m so proud to offer the very best in skin treatments with utmost integrity. I promise every client to be completely honest about what is possible as far as improving their skin, and what products they can use at home to continue the therapeutic benefits of my treatments.

As an esthetician and skin therapist, what sets me apart from others is my commitment and dedication, as well as my constant quest for furthering my education. I am blessed to spend every day doing what I love, and my clients experience my love and gratitude with every treatment.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Oh wow!! This is such a tough question!! Of course, there were missteps along the way, things I wish I hadn’t learned the hard way, but I also believe that everything happens for a reason, and my path has brought me to today, with a business I love and am so proud of!! At the same time, I am often honored to coach new estheticians just starting out and what I tell them is this: have a solid business plan, have some money in the bank, continue your education even if you think you don’t have the time/money to do so and above all, make sure that if you decide to work for someone else you have it all in writing!! “Nuff said!!
