Meet The Lychee Boys

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Lychee Boys.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
“The Lychee Boys” is a music group that originated in the Bay Area in 2018 and consists of five members: Vince A, Misunderstood, DJ Asthmatic, NoiseMaker87, and TMAC. We started making music in High School under a different alias, and we believe our history as good friends is what sets us apart from other musicians. Through the years, we have combined our talents as instrumentalists, as well as our newfound knowledge of music production to dial in our sound and vibe. Our genre consists of multiple elements such as Hip-Hop, R&B, Funk, and Pop, etc. 2019 was especially a big year for us because it was the first time we’ve reached over 15,000 plays on Apple Music, as well as gained a progressively larger following on other platforms throughout the year.

Has it been a smooth road?
One of the biggest hits on our lives, in general, was the passing of our DJs father in September of 2018. We all knew that we had to halt everything music-related because we were supposed to release our first EP that week. We understood the situation; our priority was to be here for Kyle (DJ Asthmatc) and support him through this tough time, for all of us. It did bring us closer together as friends, however, and we used this major blow to inspire us to achieve greater heights as musicians and people in general.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
As we’ve mentioned before, we are Bay Area music group and our genre consists of multiple elements such as Hip-Hop, R&B, Funk, and Pop, etc. Some of our favorite artists to listen to currently include Rich Brian, Joji, Chance The Rapper, etc. We have one DJ who’s been at it for about two years, as well as four vocalists that all of their own individual talents.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We believe heavily in the concept that anybody can make it anywhere, however, 4/5 members currently reside in Milpitas, CA and the artist community here isn’t as involved as our surrounding communities. All we can do about it is to be as welcoming and supportive as possible to any artist we meet starting out where we are.
