Today we’d like to introduce you to Lupe Perez.
Lupe, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Cesar and I both grew up in South Gate; went to the same schools together growing up, graduated from South Gate High School in 1990 we were never close friends growing up, so after graduation we both went on to live our lives and never kept in touch. We reunited again in 2009 thanks to Facebook, as many do, kept in touch throughout the years and officially started dating in 2015.
Starting all over again is what we like to call it… We started our Amazon and eBay e-commerce business out of Cesar’s parents garage in March of 2015, in a matter of months we quickly outgrew our work space and decided to open a pack and ship store right in our community with the intention of using the store to our advantage as we were packing and shipping on a daily basis for our e-commerce business.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say capital. Starting a new business is not cheap… We’ve invested everything into this along with a lot of blood, sweat and tears but, I can honestly say we are well established and moving in the right direction.
South Gate Pack N Ship – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
South Gate Pack N Ship is a one stop shop!
Unique in a sense that there’s no one else in the area offering an array of services from overnight shipping to all over the world to finding a Notary Public on staff at any time of the day to renting a U-Haul truck and paying your bills all under one roof!
Versatility definitely sets us apart from the crowd; we are a FedEx Authorized Ship Center, USPS Postal Service Approved Shipper, DHL Authorized Shipping Center, OnTrac, UPS; you can drop off your prepaid package for any carrier. Freight shipping services, international shipping with Mexico Express and King Express, Private Mailbox Rental for $15 a month and we’ll receive all your mail along with all your packages and store them in a secure area until picked up.
We are a Live Scan (Authorized Fingerprinting Center), Notary Public Services, fax, copy, print, scanning and email services. U-Haul Truck Rental, on-site document shredding. We have a variety of shipping, moving and storage boxes, packing supplies and materials, office supplies, computer rental services, we even buy textbooks.
Gift bags and greeting cards available and during the holiday season we offer gift wrapping for those that don’t have the time to do so. An ATM conveniently located inside along with some cold drinks and free Wi-Fi!
We have a great team, passionate about providing the best customer service possible; and the community has spoken… Almost two years later and our baby is growing faster than we expected.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
About a year ago we got a call from a company based in Texas for a job which included custom crating and freight shipping; total invoice was a little over 12K!
Needless to say we were ecstatic!!!
