Meet Sandy Barajas of Luludew Diaper Service

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandy Barajas.

Sandy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As a new mom, I was inspired to create Luludew after I searched to find a diaper service that could offer cleaning services for my diapers and came up empty-handed. I realized there was a need for a cleaning service for busy, eco-conscious parents overwhelmed with laundering diapers. Envisioning a way to offer an eco-friendly product and complementary, convenient service to parents, I launched Luludew, a cloth diaper laundering service catering to families in the Los Angeles area and surrounding cities.

As our diaper service business continued to grow, I began to design cloth diaper products for our clients. As I built friendships with other diaper service owners and retailers, they expressed an interest in carrying our products. In 2016, Luludew Diapers was born. We now manufacture a line of diaper products that are sold at stores across the country.

In addition to being earth-friendly, Luludew’s diapers are cost-effective, and will save families thousands, compared to using disposable diapers.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting a new business from the ground up is never easy. The beginning years were difficult because we were busy marketing our business to potential clients and simultaneously building our inventory of cloth diapers to service these clients. But through the hard times we looked forward and continued to build relationships with our existing clients. Over the years, our clients have become life-long friends. They continue to spread the word about our business and bring awareness to the benefits of using cloth diapers. Our business continues to grow and we’ve adopted a grass roots philosophy. We utilize word-of-mouth advertising and it’s been the best way to offer our services to new parents.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Luludew Diaper Service – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Luludew is predominately a diaper cleaning service in Los Angeles. We also design cloth diaper products that are sold in eco-boutiques in Los Angeles and across the country. Our focus is offering families a variety of reusable diapers that are free of chemicals and plastic. Every week, we pickup soiled diapers, bring them back to our warehouse where we wash and sanitize them and return them to our clients every week.

We are known for offering a variety of diapering options that allow our clients to cloth diaper regardless of their budget. Our clients often tell us they love the variety and appreciate our customer service. We truly love what we do.

At Luludew, we also laser-focused on our mission. We are most proud that we prevent diapers from every entering landfill. A baby uses roughly 7,000 diapers before their 2nd birthday. If that baby is cloth diapered, that eliminates 7,000 diapers from ever entering landfills. Because single-use disposables currently take up a third of landfill space, we can solve many of our environmental issues by simple switching to cloth diapers. This is our mission. We seek to share this knowledge with new parents so they leave a beautiful planet for future generations.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Currently we are working on offering cloth towel service to families that wish to switch from using paper towels at home. We will launder and sanitize cloth towels and return them weekly. We’re also launching a cleaning product refill station. We’ll deliver cleaning products to homes and refill them when needed to reduce the number of plastic containers we currently use. This allows bottles to be refilled many times over reducing a family’s carbon footprint. We just wrapped on a new video launching this new offering: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIBW1SmhXfQ
