Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke Snedecor.
Hi Luke, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in Granite Bay, CA, I was given many opportunities to express my creativity through many different arts and activities. I discovered a balance between my interest in technology and my love for movies in visual effects. Following Youtube tutorials enabled me to create passion projects from a young age, unintentionally absorbing the fundamental software skills that are critical to my success. I quickly discovered VFX to be an in-demand and profitable skill and that I had a knack for it.
By the time I got to Chapman University, I had already learned many of the software skills taught in the introductory classes, allowing me to excel in even more advanced projects. Attending Chapman granted me the resources, support, and connections to accomplish impressively professional work. Eager to create my thesis, Preheated I graduated a year early and joined the Zach King Team.
Working for Zach King was a dream come true. Bonding with the small team, I gave creative input, technical direction and worked with celebrities and top brands. Our social media videos received more views than I could ever imagine as I pushed myself to create the impossible.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am fortunate to have had the opportunity and support to grow my skill set, however I tend to bite off more than I can chew. Balancing my workload with my personal life has been a huge challenge, and more often than not I am overwhelmed in a pile of projects. When no one is there to provide a solution, it falls on me to figure it out. Technical difficulties and time crunches are great stressors, but overcoming these obstacles has taught me that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. Burnout has significantly impacted my motivation and taught me the importance of a work/life balance. For my mental health, I left my full-time position to invest my time in my other projects by starting my own company, SnedFX.
