Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Briseno.
Hi Luis, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I Started in this business over 10 years ago. After working a few years at franchise, I decided I wanted to create my own brand in 2018. We created HWD fitness. We not only help adults get healthy but we’re also helping our kids get healthy aswell. Today we have 6 locations in Southern California.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There’s been a ton of obstacles. Once you become a gym business owner, It flags the sharks who try to “mentor you”. Basically it’s these guys who have never owned their own gym and now are experts to helping you scale your gym. They come, wipe out your money and go on to the next. The struggle is bigger for some of our locations more than others, but ultimately our teams work ethic always helps us pull through the tough times. We’re always innovating and by the time our competitors copy what we’re doing, we’re already on something greater!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We truly specialize in a niche with adult Bootcamp, boxing and kids boxing. I think we’ve been able to solve the issue that others who try to copy us fail at. While most of our members truly just want a good workout, our members still want to learn proper technique. We set apart from the rest because we truly hire qualified trainers who truly know the sport. Most of our team has been with us at our location since we opened. Without our team, all this is not possible!
How do you define success?
To me success is the ability to have a successful business while still being able to make all the important moments in my kids school and sports activities. Success is being able to take our kids and family wherever and whenever they want to go somewhere. Success gives you that freedom.
