Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucy and Gwennie Giles.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
We grew up in a household where music was always playing. This was a key factor that fueled our passion to want to play an instrument. We started the band when we were 8 and 10 years old. From that point on, we have been playing shows and touring both nationally and internationally. We are so fortunate to have discovered our passion at such a young age and to be able to continue on the same dreams that we’ve had from day one.
Please tell us about your band.
We are a rock ‘n’ roll band consisting of just the two of us. We both write and perform our music. We are both very interested in the history and art of song-writing and draw inspiration from both vintage and contemporary elements. It’s been very cool for us to look back on our song-writing development as our six albums walk you through us growing-up. Our songwriting is a form of very personal self-expression. We hope that people can relate on a deeply emotional level and relive those emotions with us while listening to our music.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
I love making spreadsheets! I try to map out all costs for future projects as well as keep track of past transactions and inventories. Mapping it all out helps you visualize and stay on track. It also helps avoid any detrimental errors.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
We are constantly touring and we try to get our records in as many local record stores as possible – we grew up going to the local record shops in our area and realize how important they are in shaping the local music scene.
