Meet Lucia Naboisek of Lashes by Lucia in Bay Area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucia Naboisek.

Lucia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story started two years ago. In October of 2017, I lost my best friend, my guardian, my mother. She passed away in a tragic horseback riding accident. After that day, my world was completely flipped around. Being a young woman only have my life to worry about I then took on my mother’s life. I went from a brief time of grieving to what would my mother do to survive. I quit my job as an event specialist, went back to the medical field and focused on raising my niece and maintaining home. But something was missing. I’ve always had a passion for the beauty world. I became a makeup artist in 2002. Playing with color. Making people feel better about themselves I thrived on. Also, makeup was something my mom and I shared together. She taught me almost everything I know. Then in 2018, I received the amazing news that I was to become a mother myself.

After my son was born, I couldn’t imagine leaving him for more than an hour. It’s an interesting transition you go through. My boyfriend returned to work and the maternity leave for woman in California is only six weeks paid leave. To this day, I find insane. After also making my own money to becoming dependent on someone else to help me and the family, I started doing my research. This is when I looked at becoming an eyelash extension tech. One of my good friends became one about two years ago and is a stay at home mom. This inspired me. After talking with her. Seeing all options and having a supportive partner, I pulled the trigger and started my own lash company. It’s wonderful cause I get to create my own hours. Spend time with my family and still be able to have my own. I’m still new at it but the drive to succeed is there.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The struggle is getting your name out there. Being that more and more women are doing this the competition is high. But work would speed for itself. I wanna thank all my friends and family who have helped me along the way.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lashes by Lucia – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My company is Lashed by Lucia. I specialize in eyelash extensions and makeup looks for special occasions. I’m best known for my eye for detail, listening to my customer’s needs and wants. I’m proud to call this mine. I want my son and niece to be inspired by my drive.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I look forward to being my own boss. My plan is by the end of next year to just be doing lashes. Building my brand and eventually having my own lash company. Selling individuals, glue, tweezers and all things lashes.
