Hi Lovely, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Thank you so much for inviting me today! I’ve always felt a profound connection to nursing, a path shaped significantly by my parents from a young age. My father, Love, championed compassion, while my mother, Felicity, devoted her life to community nursing. Their dedication not only influenced my career choices but also inspired my journey through cities like Seattle, San Francisco, and, eventually, Los Angeles. It was there I earned my Master of Nursing in Gerontology at UCLA, a discipline that has deeply informed my approach to addressing the effects of aging on the skin.
In 2009, I opened my first Skin by Lovely practice in Santa Monica. Since then, we’ve grown to include three additional locations in the Portland metropolitan area, extending our reach back to the Pacific Northwest, where I was raised. This expansion allows us to bring our specialized care to more people seeking natural and customized aesthetic treatments.
Beyond managing Skin by Lovely, I am dedicated to educating aspiring and working injectors on the benefits and techniques of facial injectables like Botox and dermal fillers. With over a decade of experience training with industry leaders like Allergan and Galderma, I also founded InjectionU, a training company that aims to elevate the standard of injectable education.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Navigating the business landscape, especially through recent challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, has certainly been a journey marked by both resilience and adaptation. Reflecting on the experience, our path has not been easy or smooth, but it has been incredibly rewarding.
One of the major challenges we faced was maintaining the close, personal connections that are the cornerstone of our practice during the pandemic. With safety as our top priority, we had to swiftly adapt our operations, implementing stringent health protocols and exploring virtual consultations to continue serving our clients. This period reinforced the importance of flexibility and innovation in business.
Teamwork has been another critical element. Our success during these times can be directly attributed to the dedication and unity of our team. Each member stepped up, demonstrating incredible adaptability and commitment to our shared mission. We learned that clear communication and strong leadership are invaluable, especially when navigating uncertain waters.
Looking back, these challenges have taught us invaluable lessons about resilience, the power of a unified team, and the importance of evolving our services to meet the changing needs of our clients. While the journey hasn’t been smooth, the obstacles we’ve overcome have strengthened our business and solidified our commitment to our community.
