Meet AM

Today we’d like to introduce you to AM.

AM, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m an artist originally from Long Beach, California. I got my start in the music at a very young age with the writing and growing up in the church. I always am a bit taken aback when someone asked me to describe my story, because I’ve been through a lot, from dealing with my mother’s mental health issues to just being very very very poor, the death of friends, finding out my father was adopted when I turned 21 as well as other things. I guess all of it contributes to my story and who I am today but I tend not to spend too much time thinking about those things as they can be a bit of a downer you know, I guess at 22 I’m still writing my story. I’d say the most consistent theme in my life has been music; it is a safe haven for me from my mental health, spiritual health, and overall well-being. I produce, engineer, write, sing, as well as dabble in piano.

So with my story still being written I guess it would make more sense for me to speak on my mission and my purpose which to me is to help this world through being the person that I am and helping spread love and kindness to the every day people and let them know that the things that we struggle with whether it be anxiety, depression, discrimination, whatever it may be I just want to serve as a vessel. I want people to live through me, my favorite artists always inspired me and I would take little pieces of them and help create a character with myself that I could be happy with, one that was true and genuine.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course, it hasn’t been a smooth road; anyone with a smooth road is probably not on the way to success. I mean I’ve been through struggles of almost losing my life on multiple occasions being in car crashes, having guns pointed at me, almost losing myself to myself. But it will never be a smooth road that’s just how life is and I understand that I acknowledge that and I don’t fear and that’s what gives me the power.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am in music artist. A true artist it’s true fan and appreciator of the art of music. I’m a performer, that’s how I made a name for myself. By sharing myself and giving as much emotion and passion as I could to a performance. I’m also recording artist and I do my best to give just as much emotion passion to that as well. I’d say what separates me is my energy, My genuine obsession with love and passion. I want nothing more but to see people happy.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I want to live in New York. My plans for the future include dropping an album and just sharing myself with the world.
