Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Mark.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My flower journey started by answering an ad to work at a local flower shop in North Hollywood when I was in High School. I was actually a music student so while pursuing a singing career I trained and supported myself working in several flower shops throughout the city. Later, my singing career took off which took me away from flowers but after several years when my first child was born, I decided I wanted to stay home and I created my Event Floral Company and Lori’s Flowers was born. It is not uncommon for me to arrive early to an event, set up all the decor, change clothes and then be performing with the band.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My vision for starting a Floral Event Company was to be able to design events and to still have time to raise my children. I could schedule in downtime, be my own boss and most events do occur on the weekend. The struggles in the beginning were juggling home life and business life. Working from home was challenging. I partnered with several wedding related businesses as a shared space but was always in search of the perfect work environment. My dream was to have a Collective where several different wedding vendors share one space and work together to grow their businesses. This year I was able to co-found Wedding Hub LA with my business associate Merrie Dudley of Dolly Couture Bridal and we are very excited about our new joint venture. A one stop shop for everything Bridal and Lori’s Flowers new home.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Lori’s Flowers – Weddings and Events story. Tell us more about the business.
Lori’s Flowers is a Boutique Floral Studio. We work closely with the bride to create the wedding of her dreams. Much like a personal decorator, we take into account all the elements that lend itself to creating the unique details and say something special about our bridal couple including the venue, the ceiling height, color palette, favorite flowers, style of dresses, cultural elements, rustic chic or ballroom elegance. We specialize in Custom Chuppahs covered in florals or draped to perfection with cascading chiffon. The ceremony aisle is never complete until I place fresh rose petals like it was scattered by Mother Nature herself.

One of the items I am most proud of is our 5 star reviews. We are so grateful to our brides throughout the years and they have made it known that they love our work. All of our 75 plus 5 star reviews are on Weddingwire.com

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I have always lived by the motto that luck is really “when preparation meets opportunity”.
Therefore when my design skills, personality, and timeline align with a future bride’s desire’s and personality, then I become very lucky.
