Meet Dr. Lorene Boisvert of Boisvert Dental in Westwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorene Boisvert.

Lorene, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I arrived in LA from France in 2001. I was originally trained as a dentist there and I practiced for a few years. When I came here, I worked very hard to learn English and to take all the dental boards that were necessary for me to practice in California. During this process, which took a few years, I assisted a few excellent local dental specialists and learned a lot from them, in dentistry and also the way offices are being managed here in America. As soon as I got my license, I knew how I wanted to practice dentistry and I opened my own office to fulfill that goal, first in Santa Monica for a few years and now in Westwood (since November 2016).

Has it been a smooth road?
No, not at all. I opened my office from scratch, starting with my friends and their referrals. I originally worked on the side in a clinic in Beverly Hills to allow myself to pay for my own business expenses. After 6 months though I was able to quit that job, in which I could not thrive, in order to focus on my own practice. After 3 years in practice my son got sick with the leukemia when he turned 2 years old. I kept working and this helped me to keep my sanity but I could not develop my practice as much as I wanted to.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Boisvert dental story. Tell us more about the practice.
After 8 years of practicing in Santa Monica the owner of the building decided to sell it; I had to leave the premises within 3 months, which was a bit rough! My son was barely out of chemo and I was forced to find another space to practice. It wasn’t easy. I became a “Bohemian dentist” for a few months, but I was thankfully able to maintain my patients. It took me 7 months to find this new place in Westwood, which was a blessing. I love my new office; it’s peaceful and I can practice the way I have always dreamed of. I started incorporating Invisalign back in 2013 and I recently finished my training at UCLA in Implant Dentistry. Now I can do my cases with my own multidisciplinary approach and I truly enjoy it.

What sets you apart from other dental businesses?

I specialize in biomimetic dentistry which goal is to mimic and respect the nature of the teeth when we restore them. I work hard to keep the teeth beautiful and vital. I am proud to restore them meticulously so that they look very natural. I have a special artistic touch and a genuine approach with my patients. I think this is what sets me apart from others. I deeply care for my patients and I practice with my heart.

What are you working towards / what’s coming up next?
Right now I am in the process of expanding my practice by creating a wellness center to incorporate acupuncture and massage therapy. I am currently reaching out to the local community. My goal is to continue to incorporate all these dental specialties I am interested in and give my patients the opportunity to get the best dental care in this relaxed but highly professional environment.
