Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Lewis.
Lisa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all began with my love of children. When I sat down to figure out how I could most effectively help children and their families become the best they can be, a combination of different services came to mind: individual Occupational Therapy, Psychotherapy, Speech-Language Therapy, Physical Therapy. Taking care of a child’s physical developmental needs is important but understanding and addressing their mental health needs is just as crucial. I wanted to provide an environment where the entire family could be taken care of. As children were obtaining services, parents could also have their needs met.
Thus, Kids Therapy Made Simple was born.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I started with a grand vision, but getting the team that I wanted in place took time. First it was just me, doing everything, seeing everyone and taking on every job I could get my hands on. As I grew the company and began to shape the way I wanted it to look and feel different struggles arose. However, each and every challenge has led me to where I am today.
Please tell us about Kids Therapy Made Simple.
Kids Therapy Made Simple offers a variety of therapeutic services including individual and group occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech and language therapy and psychotherapy to facilitate successful social, emotional, physical, behavioral and cognitive development of young children and their families.
What sets us apart is our focus on mental health and child development. I have an extensive history in the developing child and I am constantly learning to incorporate appropriate and timely theories and practices into our clinic. We also work as an interdisciplinary clinic, meaning that all of our therapist can and often do co-treat and work together as a team so that various discipline specific goals are addressed across discipline.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood is playing with my father and sister in the HUGE cardboard box my dad brought home from the office one day. That box provided endless possibilities of entertainment and hours upon hours of fun! No technology needed 🙂
