Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Garcia.
Linda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been working in the TV and Film industry for over 17 years, I started as on-air talent for a local television station in Dallas, I soon became interested in writing, producing and directing commercials while I simultaneously began selling air. I was hustling. My belief in my dreams began to expand and I moved to California with the hope that I would break into the film industry. I landed an internship at a film studio after pretending I was a lot younger than my real age. I was 30 at the time pretending to be in college. The internship paid off and I landed a job as a coordinator at one of Lionsgate’s entities, called Pantelion Films, where I formed part of the startup team.
I was a real dream come true and a movie studio boot camp. I did everything from reading scripts to traveling with talent as a publicist. Soon after I moved into the digital space and joined Netflix, another great experience. I continue to work in the film industry but now as a consultant, my most recent project is being part of the operations team that launched Lionsgate’s new niche streaming service know as Pantaya. I protect my creative energy and no longer use it for other companies, but solely for myself on Let There Be Luz Podcast, where I dive into a world of spirituality using descriptive storytelling as a gateway.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I just laughed out loud, 🙂 making coffee for someone else without pay, pretending to be young is far from a smooth road. I had no money and had to make really tough decisions like paying the light bill or eating, I almost got evicted during that time but it was worth every moment and having so much faith in your dream will truly take you places that will never be able to imagine. There is definitely a payoff for your struggles.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Let There Be Luz – what should we know?
Let There Be Luz started off as a podcast where I taught menstruators the power of their bleed, the phases we go through and forgotten knowledge that we can use to help us achieve new heights in our careers and personal lives. I am a certified Pranic healer meaning I am an energy healer and heal with my hands most of the people I work on finding me from the podcast.
Let There Be Luz rapidly grew into the brand that creates spiritual experiences ranging from spiritually intensive hikes to digital sacred circles for those that are not local. I am currently in developing a spiritual course for Let There Be Luz that is releasing in beta set for mid-June.
We already have a waiting list for this course. I am most proud of the journey that I have endured to get to where I am today and to be able to share the Luz with my tribe. I come from an upbringing of strong limited beliefs as the daughter of immigrants. I am also a teen mother which comes with its own set of challenges that I had to overcome. There were very dark experiences in my childhood, Let There Be Luz is about just that, the business is my story and how I journeyed through the darkness to get to the light. What sets me apart is my journey and what I can offer as a result to it, a different perspective and perhaps hope.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have had so many mentors, supporters and cheerleaders along the way, I have to start with my high school teachers who really believed in me and convinced me that I wasn’t just a teen mom. Mrs. Ekstrom took me in when I had nowhere to live. She made me read a book every week. She taught me all about family dinners, cooking together, discussing our day at the table and cleaning up afterward together.
I never had that growing up, it was very special and something I will never forget. My fiance is critical to the work I do today, he picks up the load around the house and with our 2-year-old son, he encourages me when I feel like giving up. My daughter who is now 23 years old deserves all of the credit for who I am and what I am doing, she has been by far my biggest teacher of life and the reason I pushed so hard to do something in life, even if it was this little something.
