Linda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Becoming a business owner was never in my plans (or even dreams) until I met by business and life partner, Travis Peters. Travis has always inspired me to step out of my comfort zone and take risks. He is the founder and CEO of Ranksharks.com, a digital marketing agency. We started dating when he first launched this business. I later left my job to work for him. At Ranksharks, I learned how to custom-tailor marketing campaigns in various industries with diverse marketing budgets. After seeing the success Ranksharks brought to our clients with the power of marketing, the idea of starting my own business seemed more and more feasible every day.
Living in the heart of DTLA, a problem Travis and I ran into frequently was getting a good massage with our busy schedules. For many, a massage is something you get when you want and/or need it. It’s not something you plan for in the future. Spas were always booked up weeks in advance. Additionally, driving home in LA traffic after a relaxing massage seemed counterproductive.
Over time, we tried and met several mobile massage therapists, some who later became our good friends. We learned a big issue with mobile massage therapists is their lack of knowledge, time, and/or budget for marketing.
And Melt was born! We focus on what we specialize in—marketing. While the massage therapist focuses on what they specialize in— massage therapy.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As with any new business, building a brand and trust can be tough. With Melt, it was no different. Getting massage therapists and clients to initially join our network was definitely the biggest challenge.

You can book an appointment with as little as an hour’s notice (or up to 30 days in advance).
When you book a Melt massage, about 70% of our service fee goes directly to the massage therapist. Clients can be proud to book a professional massage at home and support local jobs and economic growth.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We plan to continue expanding into new cities throughout the nation. Our mission is to bring relaxation into the homes, hotels, and offices of people across America at an affordable price for the client, as well as a desirable pay for the massage therapist.
