Today we’d like to introduce you to Lilly Cruz.
Lilly, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My first sale occurred in 2011. Girls would ask me where I had bought the clothes I was wearing. I had one girl in particular that insisted on buying a skirt I had worn to cosmetology school. A year later in 2012 I had decided to start an online store selling items that were created by me. I started with free websites such as big cartel and storenvy. Little by little as the years went by sales started to populate more and more. There were good sales years as well as bad ones but one thing I did notice is that it all had to do with my consistency and efforts. For the past 3 years I have been contemplating the idea of having a store front but have been too scared to not succeed. Finally this year I left the fear behind me and decided to go for it. After being in the insurance business for over 4 years I have left much of the love for myself go. I had fallen into the robotic LA worker. Where my days became a constant routine of torture with no passion for what I was doing with my life. Till this day I still work in insurance and have my own boutique. I work two jobs 7 days a week 24 hours a day. But I have something to look forward to. I am very happy with what I have accomplished. I hope everyone that walks into my store feels the energy and love that I put into creating a beautiful shopping experience. And as a cotton candy lover I have incorporated it into the shopping experience at California Girl Boutique.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It been a constant struggle but I have been taking it day by day and one hit at a time. Learning to deal with all the stress is the hardest part. Balancing both jobs has been the hardest part. My day starts at 6 am with getting up to prepare myself for the day ahead. 9am I start at the office where I do insurance. When 12:30 hits I go to my store to check how everything is flowing and to have lunch. 1:30 I’m back at the office until 6pm and then head over back to my store till 8 pm when is closing time. Every day is challenging but that’s what keeps me on my toes
So, as you know, we’re impressed with California Girl Boutique – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am the owner of California Girl Boutique. I specialize on keeping the business running. My goal is to create a very welcoming shopping experience. We great you with cotton candy and big smiles.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My future plans or should I say the plans that are in the works is to improve the online experience. We want to be able to share the experience for those who can’t make it into our store. I also want to create content and grow our YouTube channel.
