Meet Lilin Kan of EK Holistic Acupuncture in Redondo Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lilin Kan.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always held a passion for helping others. I still remember how helpless when my father acquired infections in the hospital and passed away. I realized that acupuncture would be an excellent avenue to pursue that passion, to help the people in need in memory of my father. So I follow in the footsteps of my great-grandfather who was a well-known doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine in north Taiwan.

Dr. Jianyuan Jiang, VP of AHMC, always describe me as their top students and encourages me to have my own clinic. I set up EK Holistic Acupuncture and join the Comprehensive Wellness Group in Redondo Beach. We have multi-specialty experts who endeavor to provide advanced care tailored specifically for our patients in our group. We believe this nice, quiet and beautiful community deserves the best health care.

In addition to California state licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, I also hold an MBA degree from University of Houston, TX to provide professional and quality management in health care. I dedicate myself to integrative medicine and holistic patient care, aims to heal the mind, body, spirit and emotion to optimize health.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As Dr. Jianyuan Jiang, VP of AHMC described that I was the top student at my school and always got high scores, my personality, passion and compassion, as well as determination have a lot more to do with my academic success at school

There is a struggle between working for others and having my own clinic. After setting up my own clinic, how to deal with insurance is another lesson to learn.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the EK Holistic Acupuncture story. Tell us more about the business.
Acupuncture at E.K. is a whole person care. We incorporate acupuncture, herbal medicine and adjunct modalities such as cupping, Tui-Na, Guasha, moxibustion, nutritional supplements, dietary and exercise recommendations into a personalized treatment for each patient. We treat the human body as a whole to achieve comprehensive wellness which is also the name of our group.

The personalized acupuncture treatment that we offer is capable of treating a very wide range of conditions, from physical pain management and emotional disorders, to autoimmune diseases. We specialize in musculoskeletal disorder pain management, multidisciplinary rehabilitation, facial acupuncture, weight loss, and infertility to fertility.

We believe that health is more than just the absence of disease and it has a unique capacity to maintain and enhance our capacity for well-being and happiness. My goal is building patients’ healthy body, mind and spirit, not merely treating symptoms and sickness. I grateful for the opportunity to care for others, proud of my ability to diagnosis and treat, and inspired by the trust my patients put in me.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I appreciate all the instructions and guidance from my academic instructors so I succeeded in my academics. Good luck to have all wonderful support from my family, group partners, friends as well as my patients.
