Meet Lila Brown of EBMG in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lila Brown.

Lila, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Prior to graduating college, I had tons of internship experience from working public relations at Bloomingdale’s and other small agencies in Atlanta, Georgia. Once I graduated college the recession hit and I was forced to create an avenue in which I could generate income using my internship experience in a professional way based on my understanding of already working in the field. I had already entered Atlanta politics from interning at The Atlanta Press Club so I tapped into my network and my network made referrals. By month one, I had my first client which was a small budget independent movie.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I can honestly say yes it has been a smooth road because I am an independent agency and I get to implement my creative ideas and bring a fresh new approach to the world of sports and entertainment and behind the scenes. However, some bumps along the way is that being a small agency your perspective clients may be more familiar with some of the larger agencies but then again like the fact that my agency is always available and easy to speak to. Also, my agency being owned and operated by millennials, we are up to date on the trends, what’s emerging and most the times on the same page in alignment with our client’s goals for their careers and personal objectives.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I manage the day-to-day public relations for our clients most of the times that includes helping them with their social media management. My agency specializes in Entertainment publicity and commercial marketing. As an agency, our most successful work has been working in the Olympics space in helping our clients expand on a global scale. My agency has managed sponsorship endorsement deals for some of the world’s largest companies such as McDonald’s, Liberty Mutual, Got Milk, Red Bull, BMW, Budweiser NBCUniversal, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Nike, Adidas, Speedo, Reebok and then helping them venture into other commercial markets within the fashion industry. My clients are using rising stars so we have helped catapult young talent into A-list celebrity stardom. Our goal is for longevity so a good public image helps with future earnings. We’re also the go-to agency for helping celebrity talent with cross-over deals because we’re able to combine Hollywood and Sports.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was the oldest sibling of three young daughters my mom raised as a single parent. I was also the oldest amongst a group of cousins so I’ve always display leadership skills and being extremely organized. I created a social club where I was president and I delegated positions to make sure that our club was the most successful in the neighborhood, we raised money for summer activities and snacks. I may have been somewhat of a girl boss growing up but I loved journalism and even created a neighborhood newspaper interviewing my neighbors. I attended a Mass Communications Magnet elementary school and Classical Greek Magnet for middle and high school all in Kansas City, Missouri. Now I’m working in Media for National Sports Leagues all the way up to the Olympics.
