Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmin Johnson.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My journey began in my childhood, I spent a lot of time with my grandmother who passed away at 102 years old. She helped make LA’s “Fatburger” franchise what it is today alongside the CEO Lovie Yancy. She was most known for her unique way of making everyone feel like family, feel at home, & feel happy! Witnessing her in action & admiring her unique ability to provide a memorable level of hospitality to everyone, rubbed off on me.
I became just like her, it started in preschool. I would want to help with everything, all the teachers, chefs, and even housekeeping would tell my parents about how helpful I was. It continued throughout my childhood into my adulthood. In fact, many people thought I was “really nice,” & I am, but my passion for making people feel at ease is something that I subconsciously do; I don’t even realize I’m doing it at times. It’s something that comes without thinking, so I did what anyone should do when they have a niche … turn it into a business. I began as a personal assistant within the music industry, then within the medical field. Being an assistant to a high profile musician and businessmen is a challenge in itself. You are essentially assisting someone live their life, while living your own so it’s twice the work. Most successful people, regardless of the field they are in, value efficiency & accuracy. I had to learn how to listen, which is tough for me. Being able to listen and execute is very important, but efficiency is just as important. I had to learn to how to do things fast and accurate. I was constantly on the go, either with them or for them but still with a full to do list.
While being an assistant I began to do event planning on the side, sometimes for my employer and other times for new clients. I mean full scale events: ambiance models, decor, catering, security, lighting, guest list, bar, furniture, literally everything … & I was doing it alone, with no staff to help. I gained a lot of connections through event planning & also a ton of repeat clients. Throwing these events came natural me. I’ve always paid attention to detail & I’ve always had “good taste.” I love extravagant experiences so making them come to life for my clients is as satisfying for me, as it is for them. I decided to name my business “The Lifestyle Concierge,” because we provide people with the lifestyle most people work for; luxurious & extravagant.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have had to bite my tongue more than a few times, and do tasks that I felt were far below my qualification level for a long time. I didn’t start with a lot of money or have investors. I did jobs that I didn’t make money from just for experience, it was tough but it was worth it. Being an entrepreneur and taking control of your time to build something that will make a lasting mark in your industry is competitive & challenging, and I had to learn resilience. In business, nothing goes smoothly. One of my mentors always says “prepare for the worst” and while it took a few terrifying situations to happen, I finally got the gist of what that meant and how to plan accordingly. Every so often I get those guest who completely disrespect our property, they don’t stay within the rental agreement, are non communicative, they lie, and disturb the neighbors. It took me a very long time to build this business into what it is today, but I have so far to go. Everything is a learning experience so I always look for the lesson in the mishap.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Lifestyle Concierge – what should we know?
My concierge doesn’t shy away from a challenge, no vision is TOO BIG. I have VIP clientele because they know we follow their lead, not the other way around. A lot of concierge have restrictions and only what to do things they way they envisioned it, we don’t run our business that way. Our focus is ensuring our clients have an unforgettable experience from start to finish. I now have a great team of young passionate individuals that assist me in the day to day functions of my Concierge which allowed me to expand my list of services. Due to my undeniable passion and consistency, I gained a few angel investors. I got into exotic car rentals because they are popular in Los Angeles. We now have a fleet of a range of exotic vehicles. Some of the makes of the vehicles include Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, Bentley, Ferrari, Mercedes & so on. We offer short term and long term rentals. We offer luxury for less! We have the best options & pricing in Los Angeles. Another very popular aspect of our concierge is our luxury property rentals. We have beautiful Hollywood Villa located in the heart of Hollywood Hills off of Sunset Plaza.
It offers unobstructed breathtaking views of Los Angeles & DTLA. This property has caught the attention of some of the most prominent people in LA. The space is perfect for chef’s, influencers, filmmakers, businesses, photographers, models, brands, and so on. Some rooms feature floor to ceiling marble, a chef’s kitchen, three different outdoor decks, a heated infinity pool, surround sound Sonos system both indoor and outdoor, entertainment bar, and so much more. We have had several proposals, business meetings, business parties, birthday parties, photo-shoots, and films happy in the past couple of months and it’s always our pleasure to provide memorable experiences to our guest. We do not limit our capabilities, we welcome all our client’s request and we try to execute them as accurately, effectively, and efficiently as we can!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Resilience is necessary to succeed in business. Difficulties and set backs will happen, and without resilience it will be hard to make it through them.
