Today we’d like to introduce you to Leilani Jones.
Hi Leilani, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Leilani Jones, and I am a wife and a mother of four beautiful children. I was born and raised in Sacramento, California, and family and relationships are at the heart of who I am. I’ve always had a natural heart and desire to help others, which led me to a career in healthcare, where I’ve been serving for the past 14 years. Caring for people and bringing encouragement into their lives has always been deeply fulfilling, though I didn’t yet realize that God would use that same heart and those same desires for a much greater purpose.
I grew up going to church as a little girl. My father would often share the Bible with me and pray over us, which planted the seeds of faith in my life. But as I got older, I didn’t have a personal, intimate relationship with God — I felt like I didn’t truly know Him for myself. It wasn’t until later in life, through seasons of challenges and hardships, that God revealed His love, faithfulness, and transformative power to me in a way that completely changed my perspective.
Through those experiences, I began to see that the heart God had placed in me — my desire to encourage, uplift, and serve others — was part of a larger purpose. It was then that He revealed my calling: to share His light, hope, and encouragement more broadly, using my experiences and voice to help others navigate their own journeys of faith.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I don’t think stepping into purpose ever is. My journey has been marked by seasons that were heavy, stretching, and honestly overwhelming at times. As a wife and a mother of four, I’ve had to navigate the normal pressures of family life while walking through seasons of financial strain, personal discouragement, and moments where responsibilities felt heavier than my strength.
One of the biggest struggles came during a period where my family experienced multiple hardships all at once. It was a time filled with uncertainty, emotional weight, and a lot of unanswered questions. Balancing motherhood, marriage, and my own internal battles during that season was incredibly challenging. There were days where I questioned myself, questioned my abilities, and wondered how God could use me in the middle of what felt like chaos.
Stepping into ministry and launching a podcast added another layer of difficulty. Putting my voice out into the world required vulnerability I wasn’t used to. I had to push past fear, self-doubt, and the pressure of wanting to get everything right while still being present for my family. Learning to trust God with my calling — even when I didn’t feel qualified — was a major part of my growth.
But looking back, those struggles were also the moments where my faith deepened the most. They strengthened my marriage, taught me humility, and helped me understand God’s heart in a new way. Those hardships became the very experiences that allow me to speak hope into others today.
So no, the road hasn’t been smooth — but every part of it has been purposeful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In my work, I serve in a few different roles, but they all flow from the same purpose: to encourage, uplift, and bring hope to people through faith. I’m the host of the Faith in the Light podcast, the founder of The Light Room women’s ministry group, and I also create free Bible study tools and resources that help people grow in their relationship with God. Everything I do centers around pointing people back to the heart of Christ in practical, relatable ways.
On my podcast, I share faith-based encouragement, biblical insight, and transparent conversations about walking with God through real-life challenges — marriage, motherhood, healing, identity, and personal growth. I specialize in breaking down scripture in a simple, accessible way so that people can understand the Bible for themselves and apply it to their everyday lives.
Through The Light Room, I mentor and connect with women who are looking for community, spiritual support, and a safe place to grow. I’m especially passionate about helping women strengthen their faith, embrace their God-given identity, and find hope in seasons that feel dark or uncertain.
I’m incredibly thankful that everything I do is rooted in obedience. I didn’t pursue any of this because it was a dream of mine — I pursued it because God called me to it. Seeing lives be touched, witnessing women grow in their faith, and hearing how the podcast has encouraged people around the world has been an incredibly humbling experience. I’m also thankful that I’ve been able to build this while being fully present as a wife and a mother of four, which is the role I cherish most.
What sets me apart is the way I lead with transparency, authenticity, and grace. I don’t speak from a place of perfection but from a place of lived experience. I’m open about my struggles, honest about what God has brought me through, and intentional about keeping everything grounded in scripture. I believe people connect with my work because it’s real, relatable, and centered on hope — not just theory or surface-level inspiration.
My heart is simply to help people encounter the light of Christ in their own lives, just as He met me in mine.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
One thing I’d love readers to know is that my journey has been a process of discovering purpose through life’s challenges. There were years when I believed in God but didn’t truly know Him personally, and it took seasons of hardship and uncertainty for me to experience His love and faithfulness in a transformative way. Those moments didn’t just strengthen my faith — they shaped the way I live, parent, and serve others today.
I’ve also learned that the desires God places in your heart are never random. My natural inclination to help and encourage people might have seemed ordinary, but God has shown me that even our everyday experiences can be used for extraordinary purpose. Seeing that unfold in my life has been both humbling and inspiring, and it continues to fuel the work I do today.
Ultimately, my hope is that my journey reminds others that it’s never too late to grow, to step into a calling, or to deepen your relationship with God. Even in seasons that feel uncertain, there is always opportunity for transformation, purpose, and light.
