Today we’d like to introduce you to Leila Najafi.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Leila. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My background is in marketing for tech startups. After launching and managing the LA market for both Eventbrite and Lyft, I decided it was time to go off on my own, so I started consulting for tech startups. I helped them with their digital marketing efforts and content curation while also freelancing as a travel writer. Traveling is one of my greatest passions. I love to explore cities and find their hidden gems (especially in LA!), so I decided to merge my two worlds and created Leila’s List – a place to discover what to see, eat, and do in LA and cities around the world.
Has it been a smooth road?
I never liked the question “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?” because I believe that life never goes according to your plan. I went to UCLA Dental School for 2 years until I decided I wasn’t in the right profession. I’m glad I decided not to pursue that path and ultimately found my passion for digital marketing.

Leila’s List is an Instagram page (website coming soon!) that helps you discover what to see, eat and do in LA, and cities around the world. Whether you’re looking for the hottest new restaurant in town, or a cool event to check out, my goal is to inspire people to explore and stay curious.
I’d like to think that I try to be as authentic as possible… both with my content and myself. I don’t want my page to look like it came out of page 53 of Travel + Leisure magazine because we all know, those photos are often edited heavily. I want my page/brand to be real and relatable. I like to dine at the 4 star Michelin restaurants as much as I love a good hole in the wall. I try to cover a range of things so that there is something for everyone.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I started Leila’s List BECAUSE there is so much to do in LA. Living in a metropolis that is so widespread and unique inspired me to want to discover all the different neighborhoods and constantly get out and see what else I would stumble upon.
